About me

Hi, I’m Alex a Level 2 IFS Practitioner, Senior Practitioner in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist and Mindfulness-based Therapist. I am passionate about well-being and run a practice based on kindness, compassion, empathy and integrity. Using the most evidence-based methods in psychotherapy I help clients overcome their levels of anxiety whether they are experiencing general anxiety, performance anxiety or a very specific anxiety.

I teach Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) to clients who are prone to recurrent depression and high levels of stress. Both programmes combine mindfulness techniques like meditation, breathing exercises and gentle yoga, with elements from cognitive therapy to help break negative thought patterns and reduce stress.

I work with clients to help them overcome habits and addictions and my bespoke STOP IN-7 Smoking Cessation programme offers clients the best chance to not only quit the habit but more importantly make sure they stay a non-smoker.

At the beginning of the COVID outbreak I co-founded NHS In Mind, a free platform containing easy-to-access interventions to help NHS staff alleviate and combat high anxiety, panic and fatigue. The resources included tutorial videos, Mindfulness Meditations, Breathing Exercises and Hypnoses all accessible via YouTube links to ensure frontline staff had the tools they needed at their fingertips at any point during the day.

The website was well received and gained support from numerous NHS Trusts forming part of their well-being package for staff alongside free membership to Headspace. The story was covered by LBC and followed by live interviews and coverage on, BBC News, ITV, The Metro and other major news outlets. We were then was invited to create a similar platform for NSPCC’s workforce which is currently being considered for a workplace well-being award.

My history

Before my journey into IFS, Mindfulness practice, and Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy I worked in the music industry as a writer and producer. Music and creativity have always been and remain a very important part of my life - please visit the MINIM (Mindfulness In Music) page for more information about the work I do within the industry. Recreationally I enjoy Yoga, travel, cooking and walking my Golden Retriever Madison.

Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a form of talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave. It is based on the idea that your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are all interconnected and that negative thoughts and feelings can leave you trapped in a vicious cycle. CBT deals with your current problems, rather than focusing on issues from the past.

In addition to the very strong research supporting the use of CBT for a wide range of conditions, such as anxiety, there is now good evidence to suggest that when hypnotherapy is combined with CBT the resulting treatment is significantly more effective than CBT alone.
